History
Collada de la Gallina is Andorra's signature wall climb, and its reputation is built on pure steepness. From Sant Julia de Loria the climb is 13.3 km at 7.6% average, but that average hides sections steeper than 18%. The stacked switchbacks and relentless ramps have been used in WorldTour racing and are infamous among Catalan cyclists.
The road is narrow and exposed, with little vegetation on the final sections. The switchbacks are tight and demand technical cornering, especially on descent. The climb has become a testing ground for local racers and a pilgrimage point for climbers.
The mountain sits directly above Sant Julia and is visible for many kilometers across Andorran valleys. Its prominence in the landscape and its reputation for relentless steepness make it one of the Pyrenees' most recognizable climbs.
